Hot Cross Buns

After seeing the cover of Bon Appetit's April issue I decided I needed to make their cinnamon rolls. I haven't ever made dough from scratch and am quickly learning that I have a lot of down time during this process. In order to have optimal mobility when punching the dough after it has risen, I opted for short sleeves a trench vest, and a simple black skirt.

Tee Time

This DIY has been blowing up on Pinterest lately, so I thought I would give it a try. In terms of picking a shirt, the bigger the better. The wider it is the more it will drape over you. Don't worry about it making you look massive, the bow in the back as well as the cut of the bottom of the shirt will make this shirt flatter you. There are only really three steps.

1) Draw your cut marks on the shirt
2) Cut out the neckline, sleeves, and bottom
3) Tie a ribbon around the back near the shoulders

Gould Rush

This photo was taken pre Ellie Goulding concert, hence why I am carbo loading with a plate of pasta. Emma and I took concert wear two different ways. I went with the shorts and long sleeve route to ensure easy and safe arm movement. Emma really laid it all out on the line. She went for a flouncy skirt and a tube top. Luckily there were no mishaps and we left starry eyed.

Large and in Charge

I admit it. I saw The Lucky One. Aside from a freak tree house incident, it played out pretty much how you would anticipate (spoiler alert). But the entire time I was thinking about how I wanted an oversized blouse like the one above. Beth, Zac Effron's love interest, has such an amazing oversized wardrobe. But she found that balance between oversized and flattering. Nothing she wears looks like a bag on her. It's a tough line to walk.

A Little Pep in Your Step

First off, I was home alone… so I had to resort to taking a selfie.  Secondly,  I have been in such a jean shirt mood lately; this is my third post in a row about it. Thirdly, the peplum trend is one of my favorites, but it is so quirky. It is essentially two skirts in one. The top layer poofs out and accentuates your hips, while the second layer frames your legs. It's a juxtaposition in and of itself.

Under my Umbrella..ella ella ay

There is nothing better then putting an old cd in your car and rediscovering all your favorite classics. This recently happened to me with Rihanna's song, Umbrella. It was when the good girl went bad according to Jay-Z…  This song was my inspiration for getting dressed this morning. I decided not to hide my outfit with a rain jacket, but let the umbrella do all the work!

Rumor Has It

Every Wednesday my friend John and I tutor kids from Philly. Plot twist, this week they just didn't show up. Word on the street was that their bus was late so most of the kids just went home. John and I decided that the only way to come back from being ditched by a bunch of second graders was to go out to dinner together. After eating, any feelings of resentment or rejection were a thing of the past.

Heres the Satch

Heres the satch: this satchel is rocking. The Cambridge Satchel Company is flipping the script with this classic cut leather bag in bold neon colors. The Fluoro is one of those bags that does all the talking for your outfit. Its big enough to fit everything but slim and chic enough to go everywhere.

Summer Lovin

With the warm and breezy weather of spring comes the wonderful anticipation of summer.  I've been scrolling through my pictures in iphoto and yearning for my favorite season. This was taken last year on a cruise in Croatia. This outfit illustrates the meaning of investment pieces. I bought this dress for my eighth grade graduation party (i'm now a senior in high school). The only reason it still fits is because it is solely lycra. But it is a simple navy blue halter dress with a drop back and a flared bottom. Hopefully I can squeeze myself into it this summer (fingers crossed).

In the Bag

When any designer combines craftsmanship with charity, good results usually ensue. For example, the Feed bags by Lauren Bush not only are well made and adorable, but they help feed children every day who live in impoverished areas around the globe. To date they have donated over 6 million dollars and 60 million meals. There is no way one can suffer buyers remorse after purchasing one of these bags!

Flashy Lashy's

Standing in the V&A museum gift shop I was amazed by their selection of eyelashes. Kind of an atypical but none the less awesome item to have in a museum. I found these flashy lashy's online. These  led light eyelashes are made by Soomi Park. They are powered by a battery that fits on your ear and resembles a headphone. These tech savvy eye accessories are truly the lashes of he future.

In the Trenches

Had to do the typical crossing the street shot. It almost looks like the paparazzi is trying to snap my picture...funny story... I made my sister take it. While my mother shopped for a cloche at Summerhill and Bishop, Emma and I had to pass the time somehow. One of my favorite recent investments was this trench vest. It literally looks like I took a trench coat and ripped the sleeves off!

Connect the Dots

I was saving these pants for this trip. They are so quirky I thought that there was no better place to don them then London. These pants do all the talking for any outfit, so I decided to tone down all the other pieces in order to not look like a hobo.

London Calling

Yes your not seeing things, my sister and I are wearing gloves in April. On our first day in London, we jaunted around Covent Garden. I was so surprised by the amount of magic shows going on in this square. To quote Ja'mie from Summer Heights High, "so random". (Still wished I was asked to participate in one of them) I'm in the midst of training my feet to walk in heels for a prolonged period. This day was a true workout. Any trip that my father plans includes extensive walking. Not gonna lie I had battle scars from those shoes (still worth it).

Packing for Popping 'cross the Pond

When crossing the pond, one must remind oneself that it's going to be at least twenty degrees colder and raining. Still London is one of the most vibrant and captivating cities. I thought of this trip as my winter clothes last hurrah! It was soo "nippily noodles" there. I opted for the layers look. But here are my suitcase basics.

Easter Exhaustion

Easter was rough. I spent seven hours on a plane and then had to eat dinner at 6 pm in the states, but 11 pm in London. It was one of those double days that only time changes can create. So I decided I should get ready for bed, while simultaneously getting dressed for dinner (no surprise).

Lego my Eggo

Lately I havent been able to fall alseep. So I thought what better way to spend my time then make lego jewelry. It all started with the little red earrings. Then, since I had already revved up the glue gun, I went to town on designing the other ones. Hopefully my little cousins won't miss these...

Lace Shorties

This is the DIY project on the top of my to-do list, right above a mason jar chandelier. Its the perfect way to spice up an old pair of jean shorts. As I have just cleaned out my closet, I think the time is right as well as the price. All you really have to splurge on is the lace.

Coveteur Uncovered

The Coveteur has become my newest means of procrastination. It is a website devoted to taking you inside iconic closets. With just a few clicks you are transported around the world and into the shoes of Hillary Kerr or Katherine Power (among many others). To say the least its an ever flowing river of inspiration and fashion envy.

Pants Dance

Jenna Lyons has undeniable style, evident through her ability to effortlessly wear a cape and a jean jacket simultaneously. These Celine pants further this evident truth. There geometric color blocking and pristine cut make these pants a must have.

Keeping it in the Family

No worries, this is not about an incestuous relationship. This is about how the most important gifts are often passed down, not purchased. For my 18th birthday my mom gave me these three rings. Part of me loves them because my grandparents made them, but the other part loves them because my dad gave them to my mother when they were dating. Not to mention that three is the magic number…this set of rings is just about as versatile as Tom Hanks.

City so Nice They Named it Twice

My friend and I decided that the best way to end spring break was to take a trip to New York City. We took the Bolt bus and passed the time by playing mash (yes it's an iphone app). When we finally got there we hit up the MOMA. Soon thereafter, Liza and I were completely depleted of all energy and hopped on the subway. We went straight to Cafe Habana, where we shared quesadillas and french fries. Side note, the lemonade tastes like key lime pie, but in the best way possible. Then it was time to shop in soho and pick up Olive's sandwiches before catching the bus home.

Mamma Mia

Everyone has their ultimate style guru, that one person who's opinion is the only one that truly matters. My mom always has a unique way of incorporating trends into her elegant style. By the way she gets dressed in the morning, it seems to be second nature to her. She often pairs classic silhouettes with a fun print or statement bag. Whenever I get dressed, I always think WWMD (What would mom do). She is the best one to go shopping with because she somehow finds the most unique pieces for the best price. Needless to say, my style is what it is because of her influence. I hope that I inherit her selflessness, wit, and her style. Thanks mommmy xoxo

Double the Fun

Like a dress with pockets, this dual color bag is heaven sent. It instantly doubles the possible ensemble count! What could be better? Not to mention that it has three separate compartments for optimal internal organization. Throw on a mullet skirt and a razor back tank and you're ready for a dinner out (in this case with my parents).

Pj's Two Ways

This is the easiest way to roll out of bed and still look respectable… Pajama ensembles are quite literally the bee's knees. After both rising and shining all one needs to do (in this case) is swap your bottom for anything lace. BA Boom …ya done
