Young Adult

For my birthday dinner I decided to try and wear as many of my gifts as I could. I was near dead to wear this white peplum and then the quilted jacket (even the Florida heat couldn't stop me). It was a fun filled night of sushi and key lime pie. It all started at a cocktail party for my dad's work. The only way I (the birthday girl) could even be admitted was by being the plus one of one of my dads co-workers. Needless to say I was already feeling that "it's my day" feeling. After spending an hour milling about we blew that popsicle stand. Then we moved on to a sushi spot. The night was truly special due to the fact that I essentially third wheeled with my parents.

Shoulda Coulda Woulda

Have you ever tried a piece on and after numerous struts to the store mirror decided not to purchase it. Just a couple weeks ago I was in Topshop and spent a solid half an hour contemplating procuring a white leather vest. For some reason, I told myself that white leather wasn't summery enough….I thought wrong. I am now suffering from non-buyers remorse. In my opinion this is worse, you can't go back and return something you don't have.

Reunited and it Feels so Good

This past Thursday I was just sitting in a rental car with my mother while she checked out of the lot. I was just staring out of the window, while the garmin "acquired a signal". My mom started staring at this random girl across the street. I asked her if she knew her and she said "no but doesn't she look familiar".  I started to look at her and her amazing blue sweater (perfect for traveling). Then I finally realized this woman was my sister and I immediately screamed. I proceeded to throw the car door open, limbo under the car gate, and run across the street, all the while screaming. Needless to say everyone in the car lot was confused and concerned.

The Orange State

No matter where I go or how long i'm away for, I always overpack. I sort through my closet and practically everything makes the initial cut. Then I have to sort through and tell myself only climate appropriate pieces are allowed to come. This step instantly drops my jean count and shapes the shoes I bring. The final step is to try and reason through how many skirts, dresses, jackets, sweaters, shirts, or shorts are truly necessary. Then you have to pick bathing suits and ahh the accessories. There are too many combinations and "what if" scenarios. But here are the basics…

Dressed to the Nines

Giovanna Battaglia is one my biggest style crushes. Her risk taking mentality has transformed her into an icon. It seems as though no matter where she is going, she is always dressed to the nines. Battaglia has had a colorful career in fashion, she started out as a model and currently is an editor at L'Uomo Vogue and contributes to W. Whether she is wearing a furry purple jacket or a classic white ensemble she effortlessly captures what style means.

Cookies, Clothes, and Coordination

Of all the fashionable sisters out there, I think my sister Emma and I give them a pretty good run for their money… We each have our distinct styles, her wardrobe is classic and timeless with a punch. Whereas mine is a sprinkle more eclectic (for better and for worse). But on occasion we have come downstairs wearing matching outfits, without coordinating it (bottom right picture is a prime example).  One of the best parts about having a sister, besides always having someone who will laugh at your jokes, or make you cookies when you get stitches, is the fact you can share clothes. Thanks Emmy xoxo

#Twinning

The Olsens are the ultimate double threat. Together it seems they can do just about anything… They can win London, fill up any house, or even break the myth that celebrities can't create high quality fashion lines. They are so ahead of fashion its almost astonishing. You know that whatever they are wearing today, you will find yourself wearing next year. Also its a personal belief that anyone who has the ability to wear a turban while sipping Starbucks and running errands, yet not look out of place…obviously knows what they are doing.

The Fan Favorite

I decided to continue this week of sisters with the Fannings. These two teenage mega stars, Dakota and Elle, know how to rock it both on and off  the stage. As a result of the paparazzi,  we have essentially had front row seats to the metamorphosis of their styles. We have seen them transform and blossom into the fashionistas they are today. What I really love about them is there ability to transform a runway look into something uniquely their own and chic, not over the top or gaudy. They have no interest in taking a back seat in the formation of their wardrobe or looking like anyone else.

Dinner in the Garden

The weather has warmed up and my outfit has adapted accordingly. I took the pink pants out for another jaunt and even threw on some open toed wedges. The occasion this time was dinner at Talula's Garden in Philly. The food was both good and plenty. I highly recommend the cheese plate as well as the scallops and cauliflower. I personally find cauliflower quite the underdog in the vegetable world. I also suggest ending your night with their cinnamon doughnuts and french press coffee.

The Cool Kids

One day, while I was wasting time on Pinterest I came across a board dedicated to stylish children. It made me revisit my childhood and its wardrobe. I found a collection of Osh Kosh B'Gosh, skorts, and jellies. Dont get me wrong I loved my stylish wardrobe of the early 2000's.  Aside from the fact that any stray piece of gravel that managed its way into a jellie shoe was fatal. But these kids have taken it to a whole new level…and its amazing. I want to dress like them. The sad part is none of this comes in my size.

Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Banana

While in the city I noticed a surplus of orange pants, and loved it. Sometimes red can be too harsh or strong. One example is the man in red fur and plaid. But orange is more subtle, softer, wearable. Each of these people wore it so well. They all paired it with a structured black or navy jacket. I practically adored the snake skin platforms one chica was wearing.

Plot Twist.. Skorts Are Back

Plot Twist, I almost purchased a skort this week. Just ponder this for a second, one of the most iconic pieces from childhood is back for round two. I guess it makes sense though. These are the best articles of clothing for movement. You can do essentially anything without having an "whoopsie daisies" moment. Anyway it all started when I had my checkup in the city. Afterwards my mom and I decided to indulge in a trip to Zara. After browsing through the bright floral shorts, minty tops, and whopping  clutches, I laid my brown eyes on it. The gold zippers sealed the deal. As I sauntered over to the rack and grabbed a size, only then did it dawn on me. I was about to potentially purchase a skort. I was too excited to say the least. I proceeded to run to the dressing room.

All Pepped Up

After tracking the shows this season, I was fixated by the peplum. I left Zara with a white peplum top….and a black peplum skirt. I couldn't stop myself. Im obsessed with the structured top and exploding bottom. Its almost a cape for you hips. What could be better?

Maxi Cardi's and Jackets Sans the Sleeves

If you haven't watched Notting Hill with Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts rent it immediately. Only then will you appreciate the word's "sexi cardi". Im lusting after the maxi cardi currently. I've been searching for one to keep me cozy from the chilly March weather. On a breezier note i'm super excited about the sleeveless jacket/ super long vest movement we are in the middle of. Especially since im begging for warmer weather. This piece affords you layering without becoming sweltering. Plus no sleeves = arm mobility…

Sunday Funday

On this lazy Sunday i've spent most of my time browsing the inter web and watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Im sitting here typing while simultaneously sobbing due to the death of Dobby. RIP free elf. On a more cheerful note Balmain had an amazing show with these incredible patterns and textures. The dresses are the marriage between outer space  and turtlenecks. They frame these models so insanely. AND some of them have pockets…. I don't know about you but pockets area huge plus when it comes to donning a dress. I also threw in some other pictures from the Sartorialist and LookBook. I adore the floral button down with the cutoffs. Also who knew you could wear (hmm not even sure what you call it) a chest ornament on top of a sweater. You go girl, slash I love the orange with the towering shoe.

Currently Lusting- Fur Coats

Even though its been an unseasonably warm February I still have a hankering for a fur jacket. I tried one at Maje and fell in love, sadly my mother didn't feel the same. Both this model from the Mr. Newton website and The Man Repeller look unquestionably cozy and chic in theirs.

Spring Fling

Flipping through the pages of Vogue, Balenciaga caught my eye. After doing some more research on Style.comI finally located these two skirts and immediately became enamored by there billowing shapes and ombre colors. They are exquisitely crafted and swish like no ones business. I've decided they are a hybrid between tassels and streamers. I cant think of anything better.

Currently Lusting- Minty Fresh

It hit me yesterday, when I scooped a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Lady Gaga called it…in her "Marry the Night" music video she told us that mint would be a spring "it" color. Id be lying if I said I wasn't currently lusting over it. Its light, fresh, and still provides that pop of color. Not to mention the herb itself is quite tasty, whether it be in ice cream or lemonade. But most of all i'm looking forward to sporting it on the streets this spring.
